TREATMENT FAQS
Does IPL hurt?
IPL Treatment is less painful than laser, if can depend on the area being treated. It’s been described as an elastic band snapping against you skin. Before any official treatment we carry out a patch test and this allows us to find out what skin type you are and your tolerance. We applying a rolling gel after treatment if needed which can help with any redness and always apply an SPF 50 to protect the skin after. If you’re unsure about the dos and don’t of IPL book in for a free consultation with one of our therapists and they will be more than happy to talk about any of you concerns.
How many sessions do I need?
Depending on what you’re having treated. Hair removal/ Skin rejuvenation or Acne treatment can take around 6 sessions for desired results, some times more. For anything pigment or vascular related is normally around 3 sessions.
All these treatments may require follow up treatments on a yearly basis.
Can I still wax or pluck if I’m using IPL for hair removal?
Ideally not, if you do there might be risk of us not being able to zap that hair follicle next time. The hair growth cycle has three phases: the growing phase, anagen; the regressing phase, catagen; and the resting phase, telogen. IPL is best in the anagen phase when the hair is still growing and connected to the bulb which is what we want to zap.
How long will the results last for?
This really depends on the person. Anything hormone related can always come back, not as bad but may need top ups yearly. Medications can have effects on peoples hair growth, pigmentation or acne but these are all things we take into consideration through the consultation.
On average not many people need top ups until 2/3 years later after finishing the treatment.
